The Inauspicious Some

Go ahead and seal them shut, close your yielding eyes
You are “free” to do as you are told, we’ll shield you with our lies
To question us would be obsessive, heinous and absurd
You wouldn’t want to be alone, don’t dare stray from the herd
-
You heard the whistle blowing, yes you saw it on the news
So full of sin a heathen man, eccentric and a fool
We are the friendly faces, we’re your loving Uncle Sam
Don’t heed the nonsensical ramblings of the dis-abiding lamb
-
We are laughing in your faces, we are playing you for sport
Inconsequential puppets ill equipped for rational thought
Your naivety is darling, your bewilderment so sweet
Kneel before us won’t you peasant; scrape your loved ones from our feet
-
We lust to watch your brother’s fight as hollow hatred flows
Life fades away, red rivers run transmuting into gold
Do not underestimate our power to deceive
We’re dropping hints all of the time, the clues you disbelieve
-
We are hiding in plain view, we are right under your nose
You will never see us coming with your minds so tightly closed.
We are the shadows in broad daylight, we’re the keepers of the sun
We sepulcher you in darkness, we’re the inauspicious some.
-
Don’t dare to rise against us
We won’t fold without a fight
We will tear this world apart
And all you know will fade to night
